« BackIndustrial action by psychiatric nurses in Kerry begins this morning

PNA Psychiatric Nurses AssociationPhase Two of industrial action by 130 Kerry psychiatric nurses is getting underway around now.

The PNA is involved in a national dispute with the HSE and Department of Health over the retention and recruitment of nurses to the mental health service.

Industrial action was due to begin last night but was deferred for talks at the Workplace Relations Commission yesterday.

No agreement was reached so industrial action is beginning nationwide from 8 o’clock this morning.
There are further talks today, but if there’s no resolution phase 3 of industrial action will start on the 13th of July, and will include a ban on overtime by psychiatric nurses.
Spokesman for the Psychiatric Nurses Association in Kerry, Cormac Williams says there are a number of duties members won’t be carrying out from today.
