« BackHumpback whales ‘bubble netting’ off the Valentia coast

A group of about 20 humpback whales has been ‘bubble netting’ off the coast of Valentia Island all week.

Boatman Aidan Walsh was one of the first to notice the mammals on his way to Skellig Michael on Tuesday.

He says the activity of the humpbacks, which are up to 50 feet in length, is attracting a lot of dolphins and birds including gannets and seagulls.

Mr Walsh says it’s a wondrous sight and has urged anyone who has photographed them to send their pictures to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group.
