A Kerry councillor says there’s huge potential in the Peninsula site in Kenmare, which the council is in the process of acquiring.

The 50 acres stretches from the town down to Kenmare Bay, and is mainly zoned prime amenity, but there’s also a small section zoned residential.

The site was sold in 2005 for over €19 million but ended up in NAMA; and Kerry County Council has now had a bid for it accepted, but the sale isn’t yet agreed.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Patrick Connor-Scarteen says it was a great move by the council to acquire the land, and he believes there are massive opportunities for the town in developing it.
