That’s according to Cork Senator Tim Lombard who raised the issue with Minister Helen McEntee after it came to his attention that waiting lists extended to almost two years in some cases.
The Fine Gael Senator told Radio Kerry News, through his correspondence with the HSE and the Minister, a review was underway and he hopes to see the waiting period reduced to three months.
Also, Senator Lombard said drop-in centres for parents and children were also being considered in order to equip families with a more holistic approach to mental health issues.
The Primary Care Psychology Service in the Cork and Kerry Community Health Organisation provides services for children with social, emotional or behavioural problems under the age of 18.
