Two staff have been suspended at St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin amid allegations that a medical supplier offered gifts in return for commercially sensitive information.
Payments have been suspended to the company Eurosurgical pending the outcome of an investigation following the allegations made in a Prime Time documentary last night.
The programme claimed competitors price lists were passed on by staff at Beacon Hospital and St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin.
The minister for Health has also confirmed a Garda investigation was launched into the issue as far back as last September after Labour Deputy Emmett Stagg notified his Department of more serious allegations.
An internal HSE probe was launched at the time but found no wrongdoing.
