The manager of Kerry General Hospital says he is hopeful that funding will be provided in the coming years to address a number of risks and deficits identified during an independent inspection.
TJ O’Connor was responding to a report published by HIQA yesterday which found serious structural deficits in the operating theatre and oncology department at Kerry General.
The report said the hospital does not have appropriate mechanisms in place to ensure these deficits don’t impact negatively on patients.
Mr O’Connor says that hygiene and cleanliness are good and are a priority for management.
And he is calling for the oversight of maintenance to be returned from the HSE to the hospital itself.
