An organisation which provides accommodation for homeless people in Kerry has rejected claims that the homeless are afraid to engage with service providers.
Last week, Cllr Donal Grady suggested that people are reluctant to engage with such services and that the Arlington Lodge homeless shelter in Tralee is no longer fit for purpose. He also said people were sleeping in cardboard boxes in Killarney. Una Burns is with Novas Initiatives which provides emergency accommodation in Kerry including the facilities at Arlington Lodge. She says if people are sleeping rough, there are services available to help them:
