« BackHealy on course to become next IFA President

Galway Dairy Farmer Joe Healy looks set to become the next president of Irish Farmer’s Association.

Votes are being counted in the election which came about after the resignation of Eddie Downey last year.
The pay scandal at the organisation was one of the key election issues along with pay levels for farmers.
676 branches have been counted out of 947 at 3pm.

Joe Healy – 8877 votes
Flor McCarthy – 5254 votes
Henry Burns – 4371 votes

Galway and Laois the home counties of Healy and Burns are now beginning to be counted.
Flor McCarthy won Kerry and West Cork – here at home the Kenmare man secured 3238 out of 3503 votes.
Joe Healy has claimed 14 areas and the remainder of Munster.
