« BackHead of Workplace Commission says he has fears for Cadbury’s future in Ireland

The Director General of the Workplace Relations Commission says he’s fearful for the future of Cadbury in Ireland.

Hundreds of staff at the Cadbury plant in Coolock, Dublin yesterday began an indefinite strike.

They believe the parent company Mondelez is planning to outsource positions as part of cost saving measures.

Cadbury staff in Ireland, including its 80 plus employees in Rathmore, have been put on protective notice.

Mondelez says any form of industrial action only further undermines the future viability of its Irish plants.

Talks between management and staff have been taking place at the Workplace Relations Commission today.

The commission’s director general, Kieran Mulvey says he’s concerned.
