« BackHalf a million budgetary plan for Tralee Municipal District adopted by councillors for coming year

new Kerry County Council  chamber2Almost half a million euro in funding has been earmarked for projects in the Tralee Municipal District for the coming year.

Tralee Municipal District councillors unanimously adopted a total budget of €499,000 at a special meeting at Kerry County Council.
The General Municipal Allocation for 2017 includes €40,000 for town and village development, €98,000 for community supports and initiatives and €100,000 in town development projects.

The Island of Geese, the Smarter Travel Project, provision of land for amenity and sports purposes in Ardfert and the development of a public realm improvement plan and improvement works to the village entrance at Fenit are among the projects identified under town and village renewal.

The design of the Tralee – Fenit Greenway, the Blennerville Steam Train and Windmill, the Canal Bank Walk and village enhancement in Brosna have also been identified as part of the Local Economic and Community Plan, LEADER strategy and Kerry Tourism Strategy.

The meeting tabling the Draft Budgetary Plan, which set out the General Municipal Allocation, heard the scheduled total of €238,000 was expected to generate a further potential yield of €160,000.

A further €261,000 was also sanctioned through the Councillor Specific Municipal District Operations Fund.

The 2017 budgetary plan was unanimously adopted by Tralee Municipal District councillors.
