A global hotel chain is looking at employing people in West Kerry who would act as call centre operators from their own homes.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts are looking for 10 to 15 people with a number of European languages, including Dutch, who’d be able to answer customer queries from their homes.
The company is trying to establish if there’s interest in such positions.
Dingle Business Chamber along with the IDA and Údarás na Gaeltachta are holding an open meeting next Wednesday, October 14th for people who are fluent with European languages including Dutch.
The event is being held at 6.30pm at the Údarás na Gaeltachta offices at Milltown, Dingle.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts are one of the world’s largest hotel and leisure companies.
The company employes more than 180,000 people worldwide and has more than twelve hundred properties.
Its brands include Westin, St Regis and Sheraton hotel groups. A spokesperson for the IDA says the company has already interviewed a number of people in Sneem who are fluent in Dutch with a view to working for Starwood Hotels and Resorts from their homes.
