Cllr Michael Gleeson says it’s likely he’d contest a General Election if it’s called within 18 months.
In the local elections two years ago, he finished second behind Danny Healy-Rae in the Killarney Municipal District.
Cllr Gleeson and members of his party, the Kerry Independent Alliance, decided not to contest last February’s General Election in the Kerry constituency.
It was seen as one of the reasons why Danny Healy-Rae entered the race following Tom Fleming’s decision to retire from the Dáil.
Michael Gleeson says if an election is called by before the end of next year, then he and his party would consider a bid for the Dáil.
