« BackGardaí warn boy racers will be remanded in custody ahead of rally weekend

Gardaí in Killarney have warned they will seek to remand in custody anyone arrested for motoring offences over the bank holiday weekend.

The warning comes as thousands are expected in Killarney for the Rally of the Lakes.

The rally opens with a ceremonial event in the town centre this evening and some road closures will be in place until Sunday.

Superintendent Flor Murphy says that while visitors are welcome to the town to enjoy the festival, gardaí will not tolerate any irresponsible behaviour on the roads or the streets.
