Gardaí in Tralee are investigating a suspected suspicious approach to two children near a primary school in the town.
The incident occured last Friday afternoon and has prompted two primary schools in the area to write to parents advising them and their children to be vigilant.
CCTV footage from the area is being examined by gardaí.
Radio Kerry News understands that the incident occurred at about 2.45pm on Friday last near Holy Family School in Balloonagh.
A man and a woman in a black Renault Megane are said to have approached two children.
It’s understood that the schoolchildren reported the matter to school management who in turn referred the matter to gardaí.
Management at both Holy Family School and the nearby Scoil Eoin in Balloonagh have written to parents advising them to be vigilant and to advise their children on how to deal with such incidents.
A letter from one of the schools suggests that an attempt was made to lure the two 4th class pupils into the car.
Gardaí in Tralee say they are examining CCTV footage and are investigating the matter.
