Kenmare celebrates its biggest day of the year today, the annual 15th of August fair.
Gardai are advising those travelling to the town to leave extra time for getting there as traffic will be busy on all approaches to the town.
There are traffic and parking control measures in place in and around the town.
Main street will be closed for the day from 9am to 7pm and traffic diversions will be in place.
There will be no traffic allowed up through Kenmare town during those times.
Any motorists coming from the Molls Gap side will need to take the Patrick O’Connor Scarteen link road.
Motorists coming from the Kilgarvan side will be diverted around the town.
Gardai are advising people attending the fair – as with any event of this size – to take care of personal belongings and to make sure cars are locked.
The fair has been taking place for hundreds of years in the town with sheep, cattle, and street traders wares for sale.
