Gardaí are investigating the assault of a 16-year-old boy at a North Kerry secondary school.
The attack happened shortly before the student was due to sit a Junior Certificate exam on Monday afternoon.
Shortly before 2pm on Monday, the Junior Certificate student was due to sit his Civic, Social and Political Education examination when he was set upon by fellow students.
According to the teenager’s mother, the alleged incident took place on school grounds.
The boy was knocked unconscious and was taken to University Hospital Kerry by ambulance.
His mother says he was discharged later that evening, and will sit his final exams in the coming week.
Gardaí are investigating the incident and are currently not appealing for witnesses, while the school in question is not commenting at this stage.
