The Garda investigation into the cutting down of Carrauntoohil Cross remains open.
The metal cross, which has been on the top of Ireland’s highest peak since 1976, was cut down on November 22nd last. Volunteers re-erected the structure a week later.
Killarney Gardaí are awaiting analysis of evidence which was gathered at the scene during a technical examination.
Video footage posted online showed a person cutting down the cross with an angle grinder.
The video indicated that the attack was motivated by anger over the number of primary schools under the patronage of the Catholic Church.
