According to Geraldine Sheehan of Kerry Volunteer Centre, businesses, community and voluntary groups will now be obliged to garda vet employees and volunteers.
This means relevant organisations may not employ or engage a person to carry out work with children or vulnerable adults unless that person has received vetting disclosure.
Kerry Volunteer Centre acts as registered vetting organisations for the National Vetting Bureau in Kerry for organisations who would otherwise be unable to access vetting.
Seminars have been organised in Kerry during National Volunteering Week: in Killarney on Tuesday May 17th and in Dingle on Thursday 19th May.
