« BackFurther protests in support of West Kerry barman asked not to speak Irish

Over 60 people have taken part in a protest outside a Cork pub which asked a staff member from West Kerry to refrain from speaking Irish.

Cormac O Bruic from An Feothanach claims he was reprimanded for speaking Irish while working in the Flying Enterprise bar in Cork City.

A statement issued by the bar said that they employ up to 70 people, representing six nationalities, and while at work the most practical and sensible language for employees to use is English.

Today’s protest outside the Flying Enterprise was organised by Gael-Taca in Cork.

It followed a similiar protest yesterday organised by Irish language group Misneach.

Mr O Bruic has begun work in a Dingle restaurant since the time of the incident.
