Funding is being provided for roads in the Killorglin area including part of the road to the site where three people drowned on the eve of the 1916 Rising.
Almost €100,000 is to be spent in the coming weeks on resurfacing the road from Killorglin to Ballykissane Cross.
The road from the cross to Ballykissane Pier has previously been upgraded.
Cllr John Francis Flynn said the repair work is vital ahead of the centenary commemorations at Ballykissane which will take place next year.
Meanwhile €48,000 is to be spent on upgrading the road from Coolbane to Corbally (PRON CURRA – BALLA).
