Four Kerry towns have been shortlisted for this year’s Fáilte Ireland Top Tourism Town.
Kenmare, Killarney, Sneem and Tralee are vying for the accolade but will have to wait until November 25th to find out who the winners are.
Anticipation is starting to build ahead of the 2015 Fáilte Ireland Tourism Towns Awards.
Kenmare, Killarney, Sneem and Tralee are included in the top ten highly recommended tourism town shortlist.
The shortlist was announced today in the Helix in Dublin at the National Tidy Towns Awards.
Kenmare and Sneem are competing against each other in the Small Town category and are up against Adare, Ardmore, Lismore and Clonakilty.
Killarney and Tralee will also be vying for the top accolade in the Large Town category where they face Cobh in Co Cork and Kilkenny.
Only the 100 top scoring towns in last year’s Tidy Towns competition were invited to apply for the Tourism Towns Award.
Since then, they have been subjected to a series of unannounced inspections.
Portmagee was the inaugural winner in 2012 and received a certificate and €5,000 towards developing itself as a tourism destination.
