A former Kerry minor footballer has been ordered to pay compensation to another man he assaulted with a bottle in a nightclub.
Jason Hickson of Lougher, Annascaul admits assaulting a man causing him harm at Horan’s Nightclub, Tralee on February 20th.
The matter was adjourned until December by which time some of the compensation has to be paid.
22-year-old Jason Hickson regrets the assault but has no clear recollection of what happened, Tralee District Court heard.
The court heard the assault occurred following an altercation with the victim on the stairs of Horan’s Nightclub.
His solicitor Joe Mannix told the court the farmer’s son works part-time in the Hillgrove Hotel in Dingle, hopes to do a course in agriculture and wants to travel to America.
He was ordered to pay €6750 to his victim.
Judge James O’Connor adjourned the matter to December 2nd.
He said it was time Mr Hickson’s parents “stepped up to the plate” and helped him out so that he could be paying them back rather than the court.
