« BackFood businesses encouraged to attend first meeting of Listowel Food Hub

Food producers and business people in north Kerry are attending a meeting in Listowel this evening to set up a hub facility to help grow their business and encourage new entrants.

Kofi Annan and Edmond Harty
The Listowel Food Hub Committee is being supported by Dr Edmond Harty of Dairymaster who hopes it will become a significant source of employment and the centre of a vibrant, local food industry.
Dr Harty said a good enterprise support system is already in place with Kerry LEO, IT Tralee, Enterprise Ireland and North and East Kerry Development.
The idea of the hub came out of a task force that was set up by Minister for the Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan to boost employment in north Kerry.
Dr Harty said he hopes existing food producers and those thinking about setting up a food business will attend tonight’s meeting in the Seanchai Centre in Listowel at 7pm.
