« BackFirst preferences being rechecked ahead of first count results

The Kerry constituency will have to wait for another hour at least before getting the results of count one.

Returning Officer Padraig Burke took to the podium just before 10pm to announce he was conducting a full recheck of the first preferences. It is understood this is in the interests of being thorough. Around 79,000 votes have been cast.

Michael Healy Rae will be elected comfortably on the first count but his supporters will have to wait a while longer to celebrate.
