« BackCouncil welcomes EPA’s classification of 15 Kerry beaches as excellent

Banna BeachFor the second year in a row, fifteen Kerry beaches have been classified by the Environmental Protection Agency as ‘excellent’.

The classification, in line with EU standards, has been awarded to six beaches in South Kerry: Ballinskelligs, Kells, Rossbeigh, Derrynane, Inny Strand and White Strand.

North Kerry’s Banna Strand, Ballyheigue, Fenit, Ballybunion North and South also received the classification as did Maharbeg, Castlegregory, Inch and Fionn Trá in West Kerry.

Director of Services with Kerry County Council John Breen welcomed the EPA’s findings – he said it’s especially heartening seeing high standards from last year have been replicated, despite a bad winter:
