Fianna Fáil and Fine Geal have described today’s meeting as constructive.
The two will not meet again until next Monday, for formal talks.
In a statement in the past hour, both parties confirmed that contacts between the sides will continue over the weekend.
Meanwhile a senior Fine Gael TD said he hopes a deal on a minority government can be reached by next Wednesday – when the Dail is due to sit again.
Acting Jobs Minister Richard Bruton says that a written agreement on Government would be a key part of any deal.
