A Fine Gael councillor has called for a debate on the funding of sports and leisure facilities in the county.
The request came from Aoife Thornton during a discussion on how such centres are resourced.
Almost €500,000 has been allocated to the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre this year – a facility which currently has a loan outstanding of €5 million.
In the coming year, Ballybunion Leisure Centre will receive €40,000 with the Tralee Sports and Leisure Centre getting €20,000.
Cllr Aoife Thornton says a debate is required on how funding is spread across the county.
