The head of one of Ireland’s most successful companies has warned of severe, unintended consequences if Britain were to leave the E.U.
The campaign for and against a ‘Brexit’ is set to conclude in the coming weeks, with voters in Britain going to the polls in the controversial referendum on June 23rd.
A Brexit is being seen as negative for Irish trade and exports, while those in favour feel the vote is a chance for Britain to achieve economic independence from Brussels.
Denis McCarthy is the CEO of Fexco which has its headquarters in Killorglin.
He feels Ireland would adapt if its biggest trading partner were to leave the E.U.
However, Mr McCarthy feels that a Brexit could destabilse the entire European Union if the referendum is passed:
