« BackFather-of-four killed in suspected electrocution accident named locally

A man killed while cutting hedges in Athea yesterday afternoon has been named locally as Tomás Dooley from Park Road in Killarney.


The 32-year-old father of four is understood to have been electrocuted when he clipped a power line while working with his brother.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His brother Richard, who tried to revive him, was taken to hospital suffering from burn wounds but has since been discharged.

The accident is being investigated by gardaí in Newcastle West and by the Health and Safety Authority.

Local councillor Donal Grady said the Dooley family are well known and respected in Killarney.

He said the town is devastated by the news but will rally around the family.
