Michael Fassbender has said he is proud and thankful to be from Kerry.
The Fossa native was speaking at a special event held in his honour at the Killarney Muckross House.
The Hollywood actor received the honour of the Order of Innisfallen which is given to people that have positively affected the economy of Killarney.
The award is presented by the Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and supported by Kerry County Council.
Previous winners have included Daniel O’Donnell and Jimmy Deenihan.
