A family is thanking the people of Cromane for saving the life of their autistic son.
16-year-old Sean Cremin from Cork City was visiting the area with his family when he started swimming out to sea.
When Sean continued to swim away from the shore, his grandfather grew worried and raised the alarm.
Sean was rescued over a mile-and-a-half from the shore with the help of the emergency services, the coastguard and two fishermen, Denis Teahan and Eddie Neville.
Hazel Kinsley, Sean’s mother, says considering the length of time he was in the water, it was a miracle he survived.
