« BackExtended opening season for North Kerry castle ruled out

michael healy rae TD kerry southExtending the opening times of a tourist attraction in north Kerry has been ruled out by Government.

Deputy Michael Healy-Rae called for Carrigafoyle Castle in Ballylongford to be opened for a longer period in the summer.

In response to his question, the Kerry TD was told there is a key-holding arrangement in place at the castle and there will be public access to the site until September 30th.

As underfoot conditions would probably be significantly compromised later in the year due to the likelihood of poorer weather it is unadvisable to keep the site open beyond that date on health and safety grounds.
