A young West Kerry woman whose death inspired a campaign to build a dedicated cystic fibrosis unit at Cork University Hospital is to be honoured.
Mary Hand from Dingle passed away in September 2006 from cystic fibrosis.
To mark the 10th anniversary of her death, a charity event is to be held at Kerry Airport in October.
The Build4Life charity was formed after Mary’s death to raise funds for a cystic fibrosis ward at CUH.
The ward, which cost 2.3 million euro, was officially opened last year.
A launch has taken place this week at Kerry Airport to raise awareness of the upcoming fundraiser.
On October 7th, a 5k fun run will take place at the airport to raise funds for Build4Life.
