« BackEuropean Commission says waste water needs to be properly treated in Tralee and Killarney

Irish WaterTwo Kerry towns are among 38 across the country where waste water needs to be properly treated to ensure pollution is tackled and public health risks addressed.

That’s according to the European Commission which has told the State it has two months to act, or the case could be referred to the European Court of Justice.

The 38 areas where raw sewage is being discharged include Tralee and Killarney.

Irish Water is responsible for ensuring that treatment plants are put in place, or upgraded where necessary.

It has previously said that all works will be completed by 2021.
