« BackESB seeks to develop major wind farm on Kerry-Cork border

The ESB is to apply to An Bord Pleanala for permission to develop a major wind farm project straddling the Kerry – Cork border.

The application for the Grousemount Wind Farm is an amalgamation of two previous planning permissions.
ESB Wind Development Limited is to apply to the planning board for ten year permission for a 38 wind turbine farm located on the Kerry-Cork border covering 32 townlands including Grousemount, Barnastooka and Derrynasaggart.
The wind turbines will be 126 metres high and have a rotor diameter of up to 112 metres.
28 kilometres of access tracks will also need to be built for the development which will have a 25 year operational life from completion.
The application is a revision and amalgamation of two existing planning permissions from Kerry County Council dating back to 2010 and 2012.
Submissions to An Bord Pleanala must be received by October 5th.
