A special symposium weekend – celebrating the life of legendary storyteller Éamon Kelly – gets underway tonight in Gneeveguilla.
The bilingual Sliabh Luachra native – known as An Seanchaí – went on to become one Ireland’s most beloved raconteurs. He passed away in October, 2001.
Tonight Killarney storyteller Raymond O’Sullivan will visit public houses in Gneeveguilla village.
Children’s storytelling and the symposium’s official opening takes place tomorrow at An Teach Fáilte.
On Sunday a village tour – led by journalist and editor of the Sliabh Luachra Journal Dónal Hickey – takes place, followed by a ‘Ceilúradh Scéalaíochta’ of music, song and storytelling.
