“Once you’re Fianna Fáil, you are always Fianna Fáil”.
That’s according to Cllr Norma Foley who officially welcomed Cllr Michael Cahill back to the party fold this morning.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council, Cllr Foley said Cllr Cahill’s application to re-join the party had been accepted and unanimously endorsed by Kerry’s Fianna Fáil councillors this morning.
This brings the Fianna Fáil grouping in Kerry County Council to ten.
Cllr Foley said Cllr Cahill’s return after his “sabbatical” was a source of great pride.
She said despite his “leave of absence”, in her opinion Cllr Cahill “always kept Fianna Fáil in his heart”.
Cllr Foley also extended an invitation to other councillors who had left Fianna Fáil to return, saying “the door remains open”.
