The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation says a Kenmare company, that announced it was closing earlier this month, remains in production.
On August 3rd, Kenmare Select announced it was to cease trading with immediate effect.
The company, which specialises in smoked salmon and other fish products, employs more than 20 full-time and 40 part-time and seasonal workers.
The department says Kenmare Select is fulfilling customer orders and that Enterprise Ireland has ongoing contact with the business.
Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae says Jobs Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor stated that she’d been informed by Enterprise Ireland that there’d been no decision taken to close Kenmare Select and that the company continues in production and is fulfilling orders.
Deputy Healy-Rae says this contradicts the factory’s announcement earlier this month.
The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation says Enterprise Ireland, which supports Irish business, is the agency to help the company if and when required.
A spokesman for the department says the agency has ongoing contact with Kenmare Select.
Radio Kerry has contacted Kenmare Select for a comment.
