« BackDemolition of Denny site planned for autumn

Kerry County Council is preparing tender documentation for demolition of the Denny site in Tralee, planned to begin this autumn.

The council was responding to a motion raised by Labour Cllr Terry O’Brien who sought an update in relation to the site at Tralee Municipal District’s monthly meeting.

The Denny site played an important role in the Tralee economy and at its peak, is said to have provided employment for up to 400 people.

According to the council, the preparation of a development brief for the site is a major element of the project.

This will be subject to public engagement, starting this July, coinciding with the project’s launch.

The council noted engagement with the general public and relevant stakeholders is crucial to the development’s progress.

Going forward, the council also cited that it was critical adjoining lands will provide an economic impetus to Tralee town centre, including traditional streets currently in decline.
