A dedicated support room for witnesses attending court will be officially opened today in Tralee Courthouse.
The facility will provide a safe space for clients of the Kerry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre – it will also be used by ADAPT Kerry Women’s Refuge, Tralee Women’s Resource Centre & Federation of Victim Assistance.
Manager of the Kerry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre, Vera O’Leary said the creation of the support room in Tralee was identified through client consultation.
She said among the speakers at today’s official opening is a client who had a positive experience through the utilisation of a similar room in Dublin.
The support room will be launched by Dr Mary McCaffery this evening at 5 o’clock; retired Garda Inspector Barry O’Rourke and Regional Manager of the Courts Service Eamon Kiely will also attend the launch.
