The death has taken place of the former principal and manager of the Intermediate Secondary School in Killorglin, Joseph A O’Dwyer.
A renowned educationalist, Mr O’Dwyer was principal at the school for almost 45 years, succeeding his father and mother in the role.
The Intermediate School – also known as the Carnegie – was the first Catholic co-educational secondary school in the country.
Joseph O’Dwyer later became manager of the school, a position he held until earlier this year.
He will be laid to rest in Killorglin on Saturday morning.
