Gardai are warning the public to be careful who they allow into their homes, after two Kerry homeowners had their houses ransacked by criminals, posing as tradesmen.
On Friday, a man was allowed enter a house on St Anne’s Road in Killarney, by pretending to be a plumber working on a neighbour’s house.
He then ransacked the house after the owner briefly left, but nothing was taken.
In the other incident, which occurred at New Marian Park, Tralee on Friday, a man arrived at the door claiming he needed to access the rear of the house to check the sewerage system.
The house was also ransacked, but again, nothing was stolen.
Garda Damian Callinan says there was another incident earlier this month, whereby a man took 500 Euro from a house in Connolly Park, having posed as an ESB worked.
