Kerry’s litter wardens are stepping up their battle against illegal dumping by using covert cameras and smart phone technology.
Two weeks ago a person was fined 500 euro for illegal dumping on the Short Mountain.
Lots of people have been using dedicated phone lines to report incidents in the county but are not willing to follow through and give evidence in court to secure a prosecution.
Brendan Murphy is a litter warden with Kerry County Council.
He says society needs to take a greater stand against this problem and if someone comes across illegal dumping don’t touch it but contact them so they can carry out an investigation:
