A Kerry county councillor has condemned climbers and walkers who take to the mountains during periods when weather warnings are in place.
Killarney area councillor John Joe Culloty says it is inexcusable that people climb mountains like Carrauntoohil when there are severe weather conditions.
He was commenting following an incident last week in which Kerry Mountain Rescue had to come to the aid of a man who was injured descending Carrauntoohil during stormy conditions.
Cllr Culloty says that Kerry Mountain Rescue is made up of volunteers who put themselves at risk when somebody gets into difficulty.
He says nobody wants to introduce penalties for those who are climbing but weather warnings need to be heeded:
