Donal Grady 1A Kerry County Councillor says Killarney business rates are supporting the rest of the county to the detriment of the town.

Cllr Donal Grady says there is now 14 million euro leaving the town and going to the Kerry County Council Offices in Tralee every year as a result of the abolition of town councils.

He told Jerry O’Sullivan Killarney rates are paying for the upkeep of other areas of the county:

Meanwhile, Cllr Donal Grady says he’s concerned that if Kerry County Council outdoor staff numbers for the town  aren’t increased,  that it may impact on Tidy Towns:

Kerry County Council says there’s  a number of factors influencing staffing.

It says for example in roads, there are factors such as  funding, organisation and technology which affect staffing levels.
