A Kerry County Councillor has condemned graffiti on private property on the proposed Greenway route in South Kerry.
Independent Cllr Michael Cahill described the graffiti as an act of vandalism which targeted decent people.
The names of council officials and derogatory language were sprayed on a number of council signs, roadside walls and private property ahead of the Ring of Kerry Cycle.
Cllr Cahill said the targeting of the charity event was scurrilous:
He went on to say the graffiti has damaged the cause of some landowners with legitimate concerns in regard of the route and while there are many forms of protest, these actions were totally unacceptable.
