Cllr Michael Cahill claimed that particularly those from 30 to 55 years of age are totally ignored when it comes to the allocation of houses.

The council said at present it is considering all possibilities for the development of housing to ensure that it can meet the needs of all persons on the housing list.

Those seeking one-bed accommodation account for over half of the demand.
