Cllr Jim Finucane says he is concerned about the potential environmental impact of around 100 houses in the Alderwood Road, Listowel Road and Dromtacker areas that are close to the Big River.

Kerry County Council says the cost of doing this would be over €600,000, including a local contribution of €150,000, based on a consultant’s report.

They estimate work will take between two to three years to complete.

Cllr Finucane, who’s meeting Irish Water on Monday to discuss the issue, says he’s calling for the water utilities company to fund the local contribution.
