A project group needs to be urgently established by Kerry County Council to secure capital grant funding for the Denny site.
That’s according to Tralee Cllr Jim Finucane who made the call following Failte Ireland’s announcement of a €65 million Capital Grant Scheme for large tourism projects over €200,000.
Speaking at the council’s monthly meeting, Cllr Finucane said a project team is needed to examine private and public submissions in relation to scheme – which has a deadline of Friday August 12th.
The Fine Gael councillor said progress on the development of the Denny Site – and the development of a permanent centre for the Rose of Tralee – could be greatly enhanced by this scheme.
Cllr Finucane added the Failte Ireland grant announcement was a huge opportunity to access funding for these projects.
He said given the proximity of the submission deadline for stage one of the application process, a project team was necessary.
