« BackCouncil warn of flooding and debris on Kerry’s roads


Kerry County Council is warning of a lot of spot flooding and debris on the roads around the county this morning.

Up to 25 millimetres of rain fell across Kerry overnight from about 11pm.

There is a yellow rainfall warning in place for Kerry until noon and a yellow wind warning until 3pm.


In Tralee one lane of the left-hand lane of the Tralee bypass between the Rose roundabout and the Ballygarry roundabout is closed due to flooding

The Ballymullen road has now re-opened following flooding earlier – there is a Council crew at the scene and the road is now passable having been closed earlier

There are reports of spot flooding on the road towards Fenit and also at Curraheen on the N86

There is also some flooding on the Ballymacquin to Ballyheighue road

Also on the N70 Castlemaine road out of Tralee caution is advised near Cúl Dídin nursing home

There is a lot of surface water on the N70 road at Cromane Cross and in places on the road between Killorglin and Milltown

Caution is advised on the N72 between Killorglin and Killarney at Beaufort Bridge as well as at Ballydowney

In Killarney, the Knockeendubh to Coolcorcoran road is closed

At Glenflesk the situation is being monitored – the Foiladown road is closed but there is no issue with the main road at present.
